What was the purpose of African Masks?

-War masks were a common use of masks and a way to express culture. War mask colors are commonly red, black, orange, and brown.

Tribes also wore masks to celebrate the harvest, hoping it would bring them good luck. Dancing and singing took place during the celebrations, also traditional masks and outfits were worn by dancers.

-In celebrations, spirit animals were commonly used to represent different tribes cultures. The animals for the spirit masks are commonly: antelope, buffalo, bush pig, hornbill, hyena, and the serpent.
